As resident planning adviser to Uganda National Parks 1995-96, I helped initiate a centralized planning function and coordinated development of management plans through integrated conservation and development projects guided by international conservation NGOs. I assisted in the major revision of Uganda’s conservation legislation which created the Uganda Wildlife Authority, incorporating the nation’s wildlife reserves into the national protected area system.

Recently I have undertaken short park and ecotourism projects as a consultant or volunteer. These include advising communities on improving benefits from cultural and adventure tourism, community ecolodge development, assisting small private companies in developing ecotourism itineraries, and reviewing marine park projects.
